Shares of CIG (06166) jumped more than 9% at one point, following a sharp rally of over 24% in the previous session. As of press time, the stock was up 5.07% at HK$126.3, with turnover reaching HK$1.025 billion.

On the news front, CIG announced on September 7 that during an investor relations event held on September 4, Chairman Huang Gang revealed that in terms of R&D and product pipeline, the 800G pluggable modules have passed certification from several major customers and are now being shipped in bulk. The 1.6T products are expected to enter mass production in the second half of this year, while 3.2T products are progressing according to plan. Additionally, the current unit price for 800G modules ranges from $300 to $380, averaging around $350, with expectations that annual price declines will not be significant in the future.

Goldman Sachs has significantly raised its industry forecasts in its latest global optical module report, projecting that the global optical module market will reach approximately $67.7 billion, $131.4 billion, and $148.5 billion in 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively—upgrades of 33%, 81%, and 115% from previous estimates. The bank attributes this upward revision not solely to the growth in AI server numbers, but more importantly to the ongoing migration of AI server architectures toward higher-speed networks, coupled with an increase in the number of optical modules required per GPU or ASIC chip, driving rapid demand growth for 800G, 1.6T, and even 3.2T modules.
