A festive atmosphere fills communities everywhere as the National Day holiday approaches. Recently in Yonghuiting, Huajing Town, Xuhui District, a "Hundred Families Banquet" organized and attended by local residents kicked off with great excitement.

The event was hosted by Xuhui Cheng投 Huicheng Real Estate and China Merchants Shekou Shanghai Company, the developers of Yonghuiting. A person in charge of the event stated that Yonghuiting consists of four high-rise buildings with 412 households. Residents are usually busy with work and lead fast-paced lives, so much so that many may have lived there for a long time without ever having a proper conversation with the neighbor across the hall. The purpose of holding this potluck dinner was to create an opportunity for neighbors to come together. Each household brought a signature dish, and everyone sat around sharing food, chatting about everyday life, and enjoying cultural performances while celebrating the holiday together.

The banquet was set up on the green space at Yonghuiting, with over a dozen large round tables covered in bright red tablecloths, colorful lanterns hung high, and an atmosphere full of joy. As night fell and the lights came on, residents arrived one after another carrying various dishes they had prepared at home. Before long, the tables were completely filled with food, featuring both local Shanghai flavors and hometown specialties from residents of other provinces and cities. Shanghai braised pork sat next to Hubei pearl meatballs, and golden roasted chicken was placed beside succulent prawns. While waiting for the banquet to begin, elderly residents reminisced about the past, children laughed and played around the tables, and young people took the opportunity to get to know their neighbors. The atmosphere was lively and warm.

The banquet begins! Residents raised their glasses together. On the day of the event, the organizers also invited a professional performance team to entertain the guests. The opening folk music duet immediately brought the atmosphere to a climax. The Sichuan opera face-changing performance drew gasps of amazement, and the performer even walked among the banquet tables to interact with the children, doubling the joy. A comedy sketch had everyone laughing heartily. Talented residents also took to the stage to showcase their skills. Elderly men and women performed fancy diabolo tricks, a child performed a yangqin solo titled "Tianshan Poetic Painting," and aunties dressed in colorful ethnic costumes performed a dance called "Xinjiang Is Still the Most Beautiful." The wonderful performances drew enthusiastic applause from the audience, and many people took out their phones to take photos as keepsakes.
