The General Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government has released an implementation opinion on accelerating the development of the smart robot industry. The document calls for the creation of a complete industrial chain project.

Where to focus efforts

By mapping the entire smart robot industrial chain, which spans key materials, core components, whole-machine development, pilot testing, smart manufacturing, application scenarios, and data feedback, the province aims to launch targeted actions to strengthen weak links. Authorities will support breakthroughs in foundational materials and critical processes to ensure independent supply of core materials such as lightweight alloys, PEEK specialty engineering plastics, and high-energy-density energy storage materials. Key processes, including micron-level ultra-precision machining, complex surface forming, and surface integrity control, are also targeted.

Key areas for development

Focusing on sectors like RV/harmonic reducers, integrated servo joints, control and sensing components, operating systems, algorithms and databases, lightweight flexible actuators, high-performance encoders, and robot-specific chips, the province plans to cultivate a number of specialized and innovative enterprises. In fields such as industrial manufacturing, medical services, smart logistics, emergency rescue, and intelligent construction, Hunan aims to build a series of competitive whole-machine brands.
