QINGDAO PORT (06198) announced plans to invest in Phase I of the Dongjiakou Container Terminal project, with an estimated investment of approximately RMB9.097 billion. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of Dongjiakou Port Area, enhance container handling capacity, and support the construction of QINGDAO PORT as an international container hub.

The project involves building three specialized container berths south of the #7 general-purpose berth at the northern end of Langya Bay in Dongjiakou Port Area. These include one 70,000-ton berth (designed for 100,000-ton container vessels), one 100,000-ton berth, and one 150,000-ton berth. The total quay length will be 1,167 meters, with a yard area covering 125.9724 hectares. The terminal will have an annual throughput capacity of 3.2 million TEUs and will be constructed to full automation standards.

This project aligns with the company’s strategic development plan and is expected to strengthen its long-term growth. By adding specialized container terminals in Dongjiakou Port Area and optimizing existing facilities in Qianwan Port Area, QINGDAO PORT aims to enhance its container handling capabilities. This will better serve international transshipment demand and support cargo transportation growth in the hinterland, thereby improving competitiveness and profitability.

The investment is not anticipated to have a material adverse impact on the company’s financial or operational performance, nor will it harm the interests of shareholders, including minority shareholders.
