Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Advanced Process Technology Revealed; iPhone 15 Hits Rock Bottom Prices

September 1 news - According to reports, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing is considering raising prices for all its advanced process technologies by 5% to 10% in 2026 to offset U.S. tariffs, currency fluctuations, and supply chain price pressures. It's worth noting that due to the launch of the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 prices continue to decline.

Reports indicate that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing has communicated higher 2026 quotes to foundry partners, including 5nm/4nm, 3nm, and 2nm processes. This means that major clients of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's advanced processes, such as NVIDIA and Apple, will now need to pay higher costs for chips.

When asked whether the company is considering "price increases" as a way to address current issues, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Chairman C.C. Wei humorously responded: "What's in the heart cannot be spoken."

Additionally, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing is advancing more sophisticated process technologies. Reports from August 28 indicate that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing plans to build a new 1.4nm advanced process facility, expected to break ground in October, with a total investment of NT$1.2-1.5 trillion (approximately 279.64-349.55 billion yuan at current exchange rates). The first phase of two facilities is planned for mass production in 2028, with potential advancement to 1nm processes thereafter.
