Recent news highlights the global expansion of BYD's energy storage business, with two major overseas projects now officially operational. The Elena Energy Storage Station in Chile and the largest battery energy storage project in Hungary have commenced operations, marking significant milestones for BYD in the Latin American and European markets. These projects showcase the company's mature product technology and integrated solutions, supporting local energy green transitions and demonstrating BYD's international competitiveness.

BYD recently announced the successful commissioning of Hungary's largest battery energy storage project, invested in and constructed by Greenvolt Power. Hungarian Secretary of State for Energy, András Tóth, attended the inauguration ceremony. The project has a scale of 99.8 MW / 288.6 MWh, with BYD supplying the complete Magic Cube battery energy storage system. This lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage product offers advantages such as high safety, a high level of integration, and rapid response, comprehensively meeting diverse grid needs including frequency regulation and peak shaving.

As a landmark power infrastructure project in Central and Eastern Europe, the station will effectively stabilize grid fluctuations, enhance power supply reliability, promote the integration of regional renewable energy, strengthen Hungary's energy self-sufficiency, and serve as a benchmark for energy storage applications in Europe.

Additionally, on June 8th, the Elena Energy Storage Station, located in Chile's Atacama Desert, was completed and put into operation. This project has an installed capacity of 3.5 GWh, making it the largest single-site energy storage station in the Americas. The entire energy storage system was exclusively supplied by BYD. The project is part of the sixth phase of the Atacama Oasis Solar-Plus-Storage Complex, paired with a 446 MW photovoltaic power station, establishing a mature integrated solar-plus-storage model.

To withstand the extreme desert environment characterized by significant day-night temperature variations and blowing sand, the project is equipped with BYD's MC Cube-T energy storage cabinets and blade batteries specifically designed for energy storage. A total of 624 energy storage units were deployed, demonstrating excellent environmental adaptability.

BYD has been deeply involved in the entire construction cycle of the Atacama Oasis. The company previously supplied 3 GWh of energy storage systems for the first five phases of the project, bringing the cumulative supply volume to 6.5 GWh. The overall plan for the complex has been upgraded to 2.1 GW of solar PV paired with 14 GWh of energy storage. The newly commissioned Elena station is also planned to double its capacity to 7 GWh by 2028.

Furthermore, BYD, in partnership with Grenergy, has secured an order for a solar-plus-storage project in central Chile, providing a total energy storage system capacity of 2.6 GWh. The total scale of cooperation between the two parties in Chile's northern and southern regions has now reached 9.1 GWh. Supported by this large-scale energy storage deployment, local solar power can be dispatched over longer periods, significantly improving grid operational flexibility.

It is reported that BYD's energy storage business currently covers over 110 countries and regions worldwide. The commissioning of these two major overseas projects represents a significant achievement in its strategic focus on the Latin American and European markets.
