Z.AI's programming product ZCode announced a comprehensive upgrade on August 11, with the official launch of Goal, Subagents, Remote Control, and Idle Task features, marking a shift for the Coding Agent from conversational assistance to autonomous delivery of complex tasks.
ZCode has surpassed one million users, and to celebrate this milestone, the weekly limit for all users of the GLM Coding Plan was reset on the same day.
According to Z.AI's proprietary Z.ai Code Bench, when paired with GLM-5.2, ZCode achieves a 2.39% higher overall task pass rate compared to Claude Code, with its advantages most pronounced in complex tasks requiring cross-file, cross-stage collaboration and final acceptance.
Additionally, ZCode has boosted the effective capacity of the GLM Coding Plan by approximately 30% through cache hit rate optimization, and combined with a 1.5x capacity promotion available until August 31, the overall usage has nearly doubled.
This update signals that Z.AI is accelerating the construction of an AI programming ecosystem centered on the "foundation model + Coding Harness + subscription service" model.
