In a recent evaluation of network and information security work for 2025, China Telecom was found to have persistent management issues, particularly in the execution of "cybersecurity protection management" requirements. Specific problems identified include cybersecurity vulnerabilities and inaccuracies in risk classification and filing, especially in areas requiring heightened risk prevention.
The assessment named 14 provincial branches, including Chongqing Telecom and Qinghai Telecom, for these shortcomings. Notably, the list also includes one major provincial company from the group's headquarters. This indicates that approximately half of China Telecom's provincial branches have deficiencies in cybersecurity protection management, underscoring the need for significant improvement efforts moving forward. Cybersecurity management has increasingly become a critical focus area for the company.
