China Hongqiao launches HK$594.99 million on-market buyback, to cancel 0.18% of shares

Bulletin Express
05/06

China Hongqiao announced that on 6 May 2026 it repurchased 17.95 million ordinary shares on the open market under the mandate approved at the 7 May 2025 AGM. Purchase prices ranged between HK$32.28 and HK$33.74 per share, bringing the total consideration (before expenses) to approximately HK$594.99 million.

The shares bought back represent about 0.18% of the company’s existing issued share capital, after factoring in 11.28 million shares repurchased on 28 April 2026 and cancelled on 6 May 2026. All newly acquired shares will be cancelled, reducing the total shares in issue to 9.89 billion.

Post-cancellation, controlling shareholders will hold roughly 6.10 billion shares, or 61.63% of the reduced share base, while a company director will own 8.87 million shares, equal to 0.09%. The free float will stand at about 38.28%, comfortably above the 15.04% minimum required under the company’s public-float waiver.

The board stated that the current market price does not reflect China Hongqiao’s intrinsic value and indicated openness to further repurchases subject to market conditions, underscoring management’s confidence in the group’s long-term strategy and growth prospects.
