Market research firm TrendForce released an industry report on Monday indicating that Samsung Electronics captured a 39.4% share of the global dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market by revenue in the second quarter of 2026, further extending its dominance amid the worldwide artificial intelligence boom.

According to the report, the South Korean memory chip titan generated DRAM revenue of $60.98 billion for the April-June period, representing a substantial quarter-on-quarter surge of 63.4%. This performance lifted its market share from the 38.5% recorded in the first quarter.

South Korea's SK Hynix secured the second-place position with a 24.9% market share, a decrease from the 28.8% it held in the prior quarter. Nevertheless, the company's revenue climbed 37.9% quarter-on-quarter to reach $38.59 billion.

The report also highlighted that US-based Micron Technology saw its global DRAM market share rise to 23.3% in the second quarter, up from 22.4% in the previous quarter. Micron's revenue for the period grew by 65.5% quarter-on-quarter, totaling $36 billion.

TrendForce noted that the overall global DRAM market generated total revenue of $154.73 billion in the second quarter, a 59.5% increase quarter-on-quarter, driven by rising shipment volumes across various memory product categories.
