China Achieves Major Brain-Computer Interface Breakthrough; Hong Kong-Listed BCI Stocks Open Higher with BrainAurora Mobile Ltd Up Over 8%

Hong Kong-listed brain-computer interface (BCI) concept stocks opened higher on July 24, with BrainAurora Mobile Ltd surging over 8%, Nanjing Panda Electronics Co., Ltd. rising more than 6%, and MicroPort Scientific Corporation climbing over 3%.

This follows a significant development yesterday afternoon when a Chinese research team unveiled a novel electroencephalogram (EEG) signal acquisition device. For the first time globally, the device enables synchronous EEG signal collection from over a thousand individuals across different regions, marking a critical step forward in training neural large models and advancing general-purpose BCI technology.

The research team explained that achieving synchronous, cross-regional acquisition at the scale of a thousand people required overcoming two major technical hurdles: miniaturizing the equipment while maintaining signal precision, and overcoming network latency to achieve millisecond-level time alignment across multiple devices and locations. This synchronization ensures that diverse EEG signals can be analyzed uniformly.

In the future, large-scale EEG acquisition technology will continue to accumulate data for training foundational neural models. This also means that AI's learning materials will no longer be limited to text, images, and videos, but can directly understand human cognitive states through neural signals.
