During a business forum on Sunday, Hong Kong's Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui, disclosed that the city's new corporate re-domiciliation regime has attracted approximately 80 applications since its inception, with 50 approvals granted to enterprises spanning various industries.

Hui emphasized that Hong Kong remains a premier global hub for cross-border wealth management, drawing in international capital, skilled professionals, and a wide array of financial products. The government is actively refining preferential tax measures for funds, single-family offices, and carried interest, while simultaneously introducing additional tax concessions for corporate treasury centers to lure more high-caliber enterprises and long-term capital to the city.

Further underscoring Hong Kong's allure, the official pointed to the thriving family office ecosystem, which saw over 3,380 single-family offices operating locally at the end of last year—a rise of roughly 680 from two years prior. This growth, Hui noted, underscores global market confidence in Hong Kong and reflects the resilience and appeal of its institutional framework.

Looking ahead, the city is also channeling efforts into building robust gold and commodity markets. The Gold Central Clearing and Settlement System has entered a trial phase, with plans to promote physical delivery, develop investment and derivative products, enhance risk management tools, and offer tax incentives. Additionally, Hong Kong aims to deepen connectivity with mainland China's gold market, progressively constructing a more vibrant and comprehensive gold trading ecosystem.
