Global Smartphone Shipments Hit 295 Million in Q2; Apple Ranks Second, Xiaomi Third

Global smartphone shipments reached 295.2 million units in Q2 2024, marking a 1% year-over-year increase from 292.2 million units during the same period last year. Samsung Electronics maintained its leadership position with shipments of 58 million units, a robust 7.9% YoY growth. The Korean tech giant captured 19.7% of the global market.

Apple secured second place as iPhone shipments climbed to 46.4 million units, up 1.5% from 45.7 million in Q2 2023. The Cupertino-based company expanded its market share to 15.7%, slightly higher than the previous year's 15.6%.

Xiaomi ranked third with shipments of 42.5 million smartphones, edging up 0.6% from 42.3 million units last year. The Chinese manufacturer held 14.4% of the global market. Vivo followed in fourth place, shipping 27.1 million units—a notable 4.8% YoY increase from 25.9 million. This performance boosted Vivo's market share to 9.2%, up from 8.8% a year earlier.

Transsion took fifth position despite a 1.7% shipment decline to 25.1 million units, compared to 25.5 million in Q2 2023. Other smartphone manufacturers collectively shipped 96.1 million units, representing a 3.1% YoY decrease from 99.1 million. Their combined market share contracted to 32.6% from 33.9% year-over-year.
