West China Cement (02233) has released its interim results for 2026, showing a notable decline in profitability amid softer market conditions. For the reporting period, the group recorded revenue of RMB 4.527 billion, down 16.5% year-on-year, while profit attributable to owners of the company fell 49.4% to RMB 379 million, translating to basic earnings per share of 6.9 cents.
During the period under review, the company's cement and clinker sales volume declined 2.6% to 10.54 million tonnes, compared with 10.82 million tonnes in the first half of 2025. A closer look at regional performance reveals divergent trends: sales in the Chinese market dropped 22.6% to 5.15 million tonnes (versus 6.65 million tonnes in the prior-year period), while overseas sales surged 29.3% to 5.39 million tonnes, up from 4.17 million tonnes in the same period last year.
