Where to start

On August 6, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport shattered its previous records, with 265 flight takeoffs and landings and a passenger throughput of 40,243. Both core indicators reached the highest levels since the airport began operations.

Why just 10 ASX 200 shares?

Since the start of the summer travel season, the airport has shown strong growth. On July 28, it became the first to surpass 5 million passengers annually, a 3.5% increase year-over-year, reaching this key milestone five days earlier than last year. Faced with high passenger volumes, Lijiang Regional Airport Management Company has prioritized safety, service, and coordination in its operations, delivering a summer season report that balances quality and efficiency.

For safety management, the airport has developed a digital "three maps" system to address complex risks such as summer severe convection weather and migratory bird patterns in the high-altitude mountainous airspace. This system integrates data across personnel, equipment, environment, and management, advancing safety management toward a complete, traceable data loop. An independently developed FOD (Foreign Object Debris) smart management app has enabled full digital processing of runway debris, a practice now adopted industry-wide. Following the launch of a new terminal and upgrades to the runway and taxiway system, the airport completed a specialized taxiway connection upgrade, reducing aircraft taxiing time by 1 minute and 23 seconds and decreasing apron conflict points by 30%.

Service quality has not been compromised despite peak passenger flows. The airport has built the "Harmony Airport" service brand, introducing three sub-brands: "Harmony Together," "Harmony Medical Care," and "Harmony Voice." It is the first regional airport in Yunnan to offer free, hassle-free parking for passengers with disabilities, creating a standardized barrier-free travel system. "Harmony Medical Care" stations have treated 4,056 passengers in the first half of the year, with 494 emergency responses. Using the "Service Quality Management App," passenger complaints are addressed within 5 minutes, with valid complaints down 30% year-over-year and written praise up nearly 8 times. The airport has also participated in drafting the "Air-Tourism Integrated Service Brand Evaluation Standards" group standard, turning its unique practices into industry experience.

In market expansion, the airport has proactively coordinated with airlines to increase flight frequencies, focusing on strengthening capacity on key routes like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. It has introduced tiered fee reductions and incremental incentive policies to stabilize summer travel capacity. Collaborating with online travel agencies, it has conducted cross-province live broadcasts and source market promotions, with single live streams reaching over 5 million views. The "Fly with a Boarding Pass to Explore Lijiang" product has been launched, linking cultural tourism projects like ancient city study tours, Baisha photography, and mountain hiking, creating a two-way empowerment model of "airline attraction, cultural tourism retention," which has significantly boosted passenger numbers.

Currently, Lijiang Regional Airport Management Company's "Summer Battle 100-Day Campaign" is in its final phase. The company has stated it will continue to uphold safety standards, enhance service quality, and deepen air-tourism integration, further leveraging its role as a radiation hub in the northwest Yunnan plateau, fulfilling the mission of "people's aviation for the people."
