The Equipment Industry Division I of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology convened a symposium on August 4th with road motor vehicle inspection and testing agencies.

The meeting analyzed the current landscape of product safety and inspection work, outlining measures to regulate industry competition and improve the quality of testing services.

The symposium instructed agencies to fully implement central government policies, firmly resist irrational competition, and strictly enforce product testing standards.

First, agencies must conduct thorough self-examinations to identify and rectify issues in their vehicle inspection processes.

Second, they should strengthen industry self-discipline by focusing on core responsibilities, reinforcing accountability, and enhancing integrity to maintain public trust in the sector.

Third, the safety bottom line must be secured through robust quality controls in sample management, personnel training, and workflow procedures. This includes identifying and testing risks from "aggressive" innovative designs, as well as conducting rigorous safety assessments for combined driver assistance and autonomous driving functions.

Fourth, agencies must elevate their capabilities by actively participating in standards and regulations development, accelerating the creation of testing and evaluation systems for intelligent connected vehicles, and strengthening overall inspection capacities to provide objective, professional opinions.

Moving forward, the Ministry will collaborate with relevant departments to launch campaigns focused on production consistency and quality improvement for road motor vehicles. It will intensify inspections, urge testing agencies to fulfill their role as product safety "gatekeepers," enhance testing quality, and implement joint penalties for any non-compliant agencies, firmly safeguarding the product safety baseline.
