According to a report from local police, on March 25, 2026, the Er Gong Xiang Police Station of the Urumqi Public Security Bureau's High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Xinshi District) branch uncovered an illegal workshop engaged in repairing cryptocurrency mining machines during a routine inspection. A significant number of disassembled and pending-repair devices were discovered on-site. The operation is suspected of violating national regulations that comprehensively prohibit the production, sale, repair, leasing, and hosting of cryptocurrency mining equipment. Furthermore, the location was found to have various safety hazards, including unauthorized electrical wiring, firefighting equipment that had not undergone annual inspections, and a failure to implement proper fire safety management protocols.
