Commerce Minister Wang Wentao Holds Talks with Apple CEO Tim Cook

On March 20, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. economic and trade relations, as well as Apple's operations and development in China.

Wang emphasized China's commitment to fostering an open global economy, noting that the nation's economic growth is providing stability and certainty in a volatile world. He highlighted China's ongoing efforts to advance high-level opening-up and build stable, resilient, green, and innovative industrial and supply chains. Wang expressed hope that Apple would maintain confidence in its development in China and benefit from the country’s growth opportunities.

Cook stated that China remains Apple’s most critical production base and primary source for its supply chain. He affirmed Apple's continued deepening of innovation cooperation, green development, and industrial chain collaboration in China, which aligns closely with the direction of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Cook also voiced Apple’s support for stable and sustained development in U.S.-China economic and trade relations.
