On July 30, iShares MSCI South Korea ETF rose 5.11% overnight, trading at 151.32 USD/share, with turnover of approximately 99.82 million USD.

On the news front, Korea's KOSPI index staged a rapid intraday rebound after triggering circuit breakers on two consecutive trading days with a cumulative decline of approximately 20%. JPMorgan issued a note stating that Korean leveraged ETF deleveraging is essentially complete, hedge fund deleveraging has reached approximately 90% progress, and KOSPI valuations have fallen to a 5x price-to-earnings ratio described as a crisis level, suggesting overall allocation attractiveness has emerged.

The prior sell-off was triggered by storage giant SK Hynix reporting Q2 revenue of 79.32 trillion won, below the market consensus of 84 trillion won, with operating profit of 60.54 trillion won also missing expectations of 64 trillion won. SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics together account for over 50% of KOSPI's weighting, and retail investors net sold 1.9 trillion won in a capitulation-style exit. However, HSBC cautioned that retail margin balances remain elevated at approximately 22 billion USD, having declined only 15% from peak levels.

The fund generally invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the MSCI Korea 25/50 Index, a free float-adjusted market capitalization-weighted index designed to measure the performance of the large- and mid-cap equity segments in Korea.
