Senior artist Hui Siu-Hung passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 28th due to organ failure caused by cancer. The "golden supporting actor" of Hong Kong dramas, known for iconic roles like "Happy Sir" and "Chu Chung," accompanied generations of viewers across half a century in the entertainment industry, proving that "no role is too small." Rest in peace—your screen legacy lives on.

Hui Siu-Hung, born on November 4, 1948, in Hong Kong with ancestral roots in Shantou, Guangdong, was a renowned Hong Kong actor. He initially worked in banking before joining TVB in 1972 after graduating from its first artist training class. After three years at TVB, he moved to rival station RTV. Known for his approachable and amiable demeanor, Hui became a staple in numerous TVB dramas, often portraying kind-hearted, humorous, or slightly cunning supporting characters, fathers, and police officers, earning him the title "King of Hong Kong Supporting Actors."

His filmography includes classics like *The Legend of the Condor Heroes*, *Police Cadet*, and *Running Out of Time*. In 1999, his role as Inspector Wong in *Running Out of Time* earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 19th Hong Kong Film Awards, bringing him wider recognition. In 2014, he gained the nickname "Happy Sir" for his role as Tam Hei-hei in the hit series *Line Walker*. His final project, the drama *The Fatal Judgment*, is currently airing in 2025.

Hui once stated, "Acting is the purpose of my life," emphasizing that he would never retire as losing life goals could accelerate aging. He believed staying active in work kept life fulfilling and slowed decline, advising, "If you’re capable as you age, keep working; if not, do less. Having purpose keeps you alive longer."

Active on social media until October 10, Hui frequently shared lighthearted videos on Xiaohongshu and collaborated with his beloved daughter in charming, humorous posts. Co-star Charmaine Sheh, who worked with him on *You’re Hired* and *Line Walker*, broke down in tears during an event in Macau on October 27 when asked about Hui’s condition. She confirmed she had been aware of his health struggles and was assisting with arrangements but deferred further details to his family.

Earlier reports indicated the 76-year-old actor (affectionately called "Benz Hui") had been hospitalized, drawing visits from industry friends like Louis Yuen, Michael Miu and Jamie Chik, and TVB producers Jazz Boon and Lincoln Lam. Photos showed solemn expressions among visitors, reflecting the gravity of the situation.
