A platform established by Guangxi is fostering mutual learning in vocational skills between China and member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

"In contrast to the greater emphasis on theory in Myanmar, vocational education in Guangxi places more focus on practical training. After returning home, I will share this learning experience to promote the introduction of artificial intelligence-related courses at my school," said Nu Nu Nye, a teacher from Myitkyina University in Myanmar, during an interview on the 15th.

On the same day, the Guangxi promotional event for the 2026 World Youth Skills Day was held in Nanning. The event featured skill demonstrations across three major sectors: artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and life services, aimed at promoting mutual learning and exchange of vocational skills between China and ASEAN.

Twelve trainees from ASEAN countries, including Nu Nu Nye, received their vocational skill level certificates at the event.

Shwe Zin Phyo from Myanmar stated that after studying textile technology and modern vocational education teaching methods in Guangxi, she will contribute to the cultivation of local textile professionals upon her return. "The development ideas for Guangxi's Zhuang brocade cultural and creative industries offer valuable insights for innovating Myanmar's brocade industry," she added.

Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute has been deeply involved in vocational education cooperation with ASEAN, establishing platforms such as the China-Myanmar Textile and Garment Modern Craftsman Institute and the "E-commerce Valley" Chiang Mai Center in Thailand. The institute has cumulatively trained over 60,000 individuals from ASEAN countries.

Luo Shengfang, the president of the institute, noted that in recent years, ASEAN countries have seen a continuously rising demand for various skilled professionals in fields such as textiles and garments, culinary arts, and cross-border e-commerce. The institute tailors its cooperation models to meet the local needs of ASEAN nations, exemplified by setting up an artificial intelligence cooperation center in Yangon, Myanmar, focusing on intelligent applications within the textile industry.

It is reported that Guangxi is consistently building itself into a hub for open vocational education cooperation oriented towards ASEAN. It has already established 17 China-ASEAN Modern Craftsman Institutes across 10 ASEAN countries. Recently, new institutes approved for construction include the China-ASEAN (Timor-Leste) Cross-Border Smart Logistics Modern Craftsman Institute, led by Nanning Vocational and Technical University, and the China-Timor-Leste Chinese Cuisine Culinary Modern Craftsman Institute, led by Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute.
