STANCHART cancels 3.70 million shares; outstanding share count trimmed to 2.20 billion

Standard Chartered PLC (STANCHART) has cancelled 3.70 million ordinary shares repurchased between 1 and 5 June 2026, according to its Next Day Disclosure Return filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 10 June 2026. The cancellation, completed on 9 June, reduced the bank’s issued share capital by 0.17% to 2.20 billion shares.

The five cancelled tranches were acquired on the London Stock Exchange at volume-weighted average prices ranging from GBP 19.34 to GBP 20.54 per share: • 742,984 shares at GBP 20.01 • 741,000 shares at GBP 20.54 • 720,000 shares at GBP 20.45 • 737,628 shares at GBP 19.34 • 760,000 shares at GBP 19.41

A further 1.55 million shares—773,200 bought on 8 June at GBP 19.41 and 773,743 bought on 9 June at an average price of GBP 18.82—remain pending cancellation. Once completed, the number of shares in issue will drop to approximately 2.197 billion.

Details of the 9 June repurchase show that 773,743 shares were acquired across the London Stock Exchange, CBOE BXE and CBOE CXE at prices between GBP 18.28 and GBP 19.43, costing GBP 14.56 million in total.

Since receiving shareholder authorisation on 7 May 2026 to repurchase up to 221.63 million shares, STANCHART has bought back 16.87 million shares, equivalent to 0.76% of the shares outstanding at the time of the mandate’s approval.
