On October 17, the Passenger Car Association released a preliminary report on the wholesale sales ranking of pickup truck manufacturers for September 2025. In September 2025, the pickup truck market recorded sales of 46,000 units, representing a year-on-year decrease of 1.9% but a month-on-month increase of 14.6%, maintaining a mid-to-high level for the past five years. From January to September 2025, the pickup truck market sold 432,000 units, an increase of 11.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

Great Wall Motor 02333 continues to maintain its leading position in the pickup truck market with stable performance both domestically and internationally. The positive impact of ongoing year-on-year growth in exports has resulted in strong performances by Great Wall Motor, SAIC Maxus, Zhengzhou Nissan, Chongqing Changan 000625, and Anhui Jianghuai 600418. In the domestic pickup truck retail market, Great Wall, Jiangling Motors 000550, Zhengzhou Nissan, and Jiangxi Isuzu have shown good performance, maintaining the "one strong leader and three strong challengers" structure.

The main regions for pickup truck demand are located in the southwest and northwest, which account for a significant portion of overall demand. In September 2025, pickup truck demand in these two regions made up 44.4% of total demand, marking them as two core markets. As the growth of new energy pickups slows down, the performance of the new energy pickup market lags behind that of logistics-type electric vehicles.

In terms of exports, the national pickup truck market achieved a cumulative export of 244,000 units in 2024, reflecting an 85% growth rate. This year, represented by Great Wall Motor, the overall export of the pickup truck industry has been exceptionally strong, with exports reaching 26,000 units in September 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 3% and a month-on-month increase of 22%. The industry's export ratio remains high, totaling 228,000 units from January to September, a 28% increase year-on-year.

As for new energy pickups, in September 2025, sales reached 4,000 units, up 104% year-on-year and 31% month-on-month. From January to September, cumulative sales of new energy pickups reached 54,000 units, reflecting a 440% increase, significantly outpacing traditional fuel pickups. With the logistics demand for electric light trucks surging, electrification has become the best way for commercial vehicles to gain road rights.

With the development of electrification and passengerization, the pickup truck market is gradually showing improved prospects. Among new energy pickup sales in September: Geely Radar electric pickups totaled 1,593 units, BYD 01211 pickups also reached 1,593 units, Changan extended range pickups totaled 793 units, and Zhengzhou Nissan accounted for 404 units, with other pickup manufacturers also making some headway in new energy models. As the domestic new energy pickup market begins to take off and gradually nurtures demand, it is expected that the pickup truck market in China will develop more rapidly to meet both domestic and international needs.
