Xiaomi and Li Auto Tie for Third Place Among CATL's Top Clients

On July 21st, the Passenger Car Association released an insight report on the three-electric systems for new energy vehicles in June 2026.

Data shows that from January to June, China's new energy vehicle production reached 7.399 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%, with a cumulative penetration rate reaching 49.0%.

In the power battery market, the installed capacity for new energy vehicle power batteries in June was 79.1GWh, up 31.3% year-on-year, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 14.8% from January to June.

From January to June, the average battery capacity per new energy vehicle was 65.4kWh, representing a 29.3% year-on-year growth.

Regarding battery cell supplier partnerships, the top three companies held a 71.1% market share in June, with the top ten companies accounting for 94.2%.

Specifically, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.,Ltd. (CATL) achieved a total installed capacity of 36,603 MWh, securing a 46.3% market share and maintaining its leading position.

In terms of client share for June, GEELY AUTO was CATL's largest customer, accounting for 8.2%, followed closely by Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited with 8%.

Xiaomi Corp. and Li Auto tied for third place with a 6.8% share each, while NIO ranked fifth with a 6.2% share.

Comparing to previous monthly shares, Geely and Xiaomi both saw increases, Li Auto's share declined, and Tesla China fell out of the top five.

BYD subsidiary FinDreams Battery ranked second with an installed capacity of 14,197 MWh and an 18.0% market share, with 72.8% of its installations (for BYD, Fang Cheng Bao, and Denza brands) being self-supplied.

XPeng Motors and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group ranked fourth and fifth among its external clients, with shares of 4.8% and 3.7% respectively, while Xiaomi dropped out of the top five for this supplier.

CALB ranked third with an installed capacity of 5,400 MWh and a 6.8% market share.

Its largest client was China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, accounting for 15.8%, followed by XPeng Motors with 15.3%.

GAC Toyota, XCMG Automobile, and Leapmotor ranked third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

Gotion High-tech ranked fourth with an installed capacity of 4,448 MWh and a 5.6% market share.

Leapmotor was its top client with a 28.2% share, followed by Chery Automobile, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Hanma Technology, and Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited in second to fifth places, with shares of 16.6%, 12.0%, 8.7%, and 8.0% respectively.
