YMTC Expands Its Ecosystem: 17 Semiconductor Firms Seal 6 Billion Yuan in New Deals

Seventeen integrated circuit companies, including AMEC, Skyverse, Leadmicro, and Zhenbao Technology, have finalized a collective signing ceremony in Wuhan, Hubei, with total investments surpassing 6 billion yuan. This marks the first batch of projects to land following the East Lake High-tech Zone's announcement of the "Plane Tree Plan" in January of this year.

The initiative, driven jointly by the district and chain-leader enterprises like YMTC, aims to build a world-class storage-computing integration industrial base. The plan centers on YMTC, with a 4.5-kilometer radius covering 60 square kilometers. To support this vision, Optics Valley has established a dedicated task force to coordinate project implementation and supporting infrastructure.

AMEC has set up its Central China headquarters in Optics Valley, focusing on core semiconductor equipment R&D. The company completed registration of its Wuhan subsidiary on July 28 and has moved into the Optics Valley Storage-Computing Innovation Park, with operations expected to begin in early next year. Shenzhou Semiconductor, targeting RF power sources—the "engine" of etching and deposition equipment—will also settle in the same park. It is building a Central China headquarters and R&D center for products like RF power supplies and matching networks, with its wholly-owned subsidiary currently being registered and operations slated for the first quarter of next year.

Skyverse, which specializes in inspection equipment, has also completed its agreement, with its Central China R&D and production base to be located in Wuhan Future City. Weina Hexin, a storage-computing integrated AI chip company, plans to establish a Wuhan R&D center in the park to develop 3D storage-computing chip technologies.

Notably, most of the 17 companies are setting up R&D centers rather than production facilities in Optics Valley. This signals that a significant number of engineers, patents, and technical standards will take root here, providing a foundation for long-term regional innovation.

In parallel, YMTC's IPO application for the STAR Market has moved to "accepted" status. The company aims to raise 33 billion yuan, with China Securities and CITIC Securities acting as sponsors. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Wuhan, YMTC is a leading player in China's 3D NAND flash memory sector with a registered capital of 17.82 billion yuan. Its largest shareholder, Hubei Changsheng Development Co., holds 26.54%, under the control of the Hubei provincial state-owned assets system.

According to Counterpoint Research data from Q2 2026, YMTC has entered the global top three in NAND flash memory by shipment volume for the first time, trailing only Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. It is the second domestic memory chip IDM giant to pursue an A-share listing, following DRAM leader CXMT's debut on the STAR Market in July 2026. Market expectations place YMTC's IPO valuation at approximately 300 billion yuan.

YMTC currently operates two major production bases in Wuhan, with a combined monthly capacity of about 200,000 wafers. The company continues to push its 3D NAND technology toward higher-layer stacking iterations. Proceeds from the listing are expected to be directed toward the construction of its third-phase production line, advanced process R&D, and working capital replenishment.
