European equities on Friday recorded their largest advance since mid-September, supported by reduced volatility in the European bond market, while expectations of robust US corporate earnings bolstered investor sentiment.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index rebounded 1% following two consecutive days of sharp declines, eking out a weekly gain of 0.1%. Metals and mining shares along with financial services stocks led the advance, and technology shares also climbed after reports indicated that OpenAI expects its annualized revenue to reach or exceed $70 billion by year-end.

US equities also rose, with analysts projecting that S&P 500 constituent companies will report third-quarter profits roughly 25% higher than the same period a year earlier.

On the individual stock front, Deutsche Telekom AG led declines among European telecom shares after SpaceX announced it had acquired low-band spectrum in the United States, intensifying investor concerns about heightened competition from satellite operators.

Throughout the week, the European benchmark index came under pressure from worries over France's political and fiscal outlook, compounded by elevated bond yields. Bank shares were hit particularly hard, with the Stoxx Europe 600 Banks Index falling about 8% from its September peak.

On Friday, European bonds stabilized after a week of severe turbulence, providing support to equities despite rising oil prices. Bank shares gained 0.6%.

Guillermo Hernandez Sampere, head of trading at MPPM, said: "European markets are less driven by the technology sector, and concerns over debt levels in certain eurozone countries as well as rising energy prices are dominating. Unless this changes, the market should remain range-bound."
