Tungtex 2026 ESG Report: Double-Digit Cuts in Emissions and Energy Use, Carbon-Neutral Goal Set for 2060

Tungtex (Holdings) Company Limited has released its FY2026 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, detailing measurable progress in emissions control, resource efficiency and workforce development across operations in mainland China and Vietnam for the year ended 31 March 2026.

Environmental Performance • Greenhouse gases: Total emissions fell 12.1 % to 2,719.90 tonnes CO₂-e. Direct (Scope 1) emissions dropped 29.4 % to 757.20 tonnes CO₂-e, driven by a shift from biomass to electric boilers and reduced vehicle fuel use. • Air pollutants: NOx, SOx and PM releases plunged 71.9 %, 57.1 % and 71.3 % respectively, reflecting equipment upgrades and stricter logistics controls. • Energy consumption: Group energy use declined 19.7 % to 7,497.70 MWh. Natural-gas demand contracted 27.1 % and diesel use 69.1 %. Purchased electricity fell 4.9 % to 3,440.90 MWh. • Renewable share: Solar PV generated 465.50 MWh, supplying 26.2 % of the Vietnam factory’s electricity; management targets a minimum 25 % contribution going forward. • Water & waste: Water withdrawal decreased 16.8 % to 43,508 m³. Non-hazardous waste fell 30.4 % to 371.80 tonnes, while hazardous waste remained negligible at 0.20 tonne.

Climate Commitments • The board reaffirmed a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and has embedded climate risk oversight into a three-tier governance structure aligned with TCFD and forthcoming ISSB standards. • Scenario analysis and Scope 3 accounting frameworks are under development to extend climate-risk quantification across the value chain.

Social Metrics • Workforce: Headcount stood at 1,311 (down 9.7 % year on year), 75 % of whom are women. • Safety: Zero work-related fatalities for the third consecutive year; reportable injuries declined to eight cases with just 10 lost workdays. • Training: Total training hours surged 66 % to 11,399, averaging 8.5 hours per employee; 88 % of hours targeted production-line staff. • Turnover: Group-wide employee turnover remained stable at c.5 % monthly.

Governance & Recognition • A strengthened ESG governance framework assigns ultimate responsibility to the board, supported by management and execution teams. • Anti-corruption training, whistleblowing channels and zero-tolerance policies were reinforced; no corruption cases were recorded. • External accolades include the HKCSS “Caring Company” (12th consecutive year) and verified scores in the Higg Index FEM and FSLM assessments.

Supply Chain & Product Responsibility • Active supplier base totals 575 (545 in China, 30 in Vietnam), all vetted through internal ESG criteria. • No product recalls, safety incidents or significant regulatory breaches were reported; 23 trademarks are registered to safeguard intellectual property.

Community Engagement • Cash donations reached HK$0.01 million, and 106 employees contributed 191 volunteer hours, focusing on environmental clean-ups and elderly care.

Tungtex ends FY2026 with lower emissions, tighter resource use and enhanced social metrics, positioning the apparel manufacturer on track toward its long-term sustainability objectives.
