South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index halted a two-session losing streak, driven by a rebound in robotics and semiconductor stocks. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index closed up 3.6% at 6,747.95 points.

During the session, trading was halted for five minutes on the Korea Exchange after Kospi futures surged more than 5%.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. maintained its "overweight" rating on South Korean equities and kept its 12-month target for the KOSPI index at 12,500 points.
