HK Opening Bell | Hang Seng Tech Index Slumps 1.8% Amid Broad Tech Selloff; BRAINAURORA-B Surges 12% Against the Trend

On Friday, 24 July 2026, the Hong Kong market opened broadly lower. The Hang Seng Index (HSI) fell 1.10%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) declined 1.13%, the Hang Seng Tech Index (HSTECH) dropped 1.86%, and the HSCCI slipped 0.62%, reflecting risk-off sentiment across major benchmarks.

Among the constituent stocks of the Tech Index, NIO-SW fell 3.5%, BABA-W fell 2.96%, XPENG-W fell 2.53%, KUAISHOU-W fell 2.51%, and MEITUAN-W fell 2.46%.

Popular memory semiconductor stocks, optical communication stocks, and PCB stocks generally declined.

However, a significant breakthrough in China's brain-computer interface (BCI) technology boosted BCI-related stocks, with BRAINAURORA-B surging 12% and NANJING PANDA rising nearly 6%.

Meanwhile, soaring oil prices propelled oil and gas equipment stock SHANDONG MOLONG up 4.6%.
