Tianjin's Intelligent Robot Industry Surges 15.2% in First Half of Year

The intelligent robot industry in Tianjin has experienced rapid growth during the first half of this year, driven by coordinated efforts in supply chain strengthening and industrial chain reinforcement.

From January to June, companies above the designated size in the city's intelligent robot industry achieved a total industrial output value of 6.849 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. The added value of the industry grew by 18% year-on-year, accelerating by 2.5 percentage points compared to the first quarter. The city's industrial and information technology bureau projects that the industry will maintain a growth rate of over 15% for the full year.

This growth is attributed to the "Six Ones" project, which includes an action plan, a dedicated task force, an industry alliance, specialized funds, pilot testing platforms, and application scenarios. The Tianjin Intelligent Robot Industry Innovation and Development Action Plan has been completed, and the Tianjin Robot Industry Technology Alliance, established in May, has expanded its membership from 180 to 218 companies.

Application scenarios are crucial for the commercial deployment of robots. The city has advanced a special action for humanoid robots and embodied intelligence real-world training, planning 54 real-world training spaces. These include 23 industrial scenarios, 28 service scenarios, and 3 special scenarios, covering key areas such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and urban management. This initiative serves as a "training ground" for robot technology and accelerates the commercialization of robotic products.

At the Tianjin Muniunliuqi Technology Development Co., Ltd. Embodied Intelligence Training and Delivery Center in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, robots are undergoing intensive "pre-job training." Humanoid robots perform material handling and precision assembly on replicated real production lines, while wheeled robots, designed for complex outdoor terrain and multi-task coordination, practice urban patrol and parking violation identification. Each training session's data is recorded and analyzed in real-time by the company's proprietary intelligent hub system to optimize robot performance.

The city's first large-scale robot real-world experience center, the China Mobile Tianjin Company Robot Experience Center, opened in May. Here, robots skilled in various tasks—such as performing clapper talk, handling luggage, and providing intelligent triage—are placed in ten themed real-world zones, including communication, culture, transportation, education, medical care, emergency response, and unmanned supermarkets. Visitors can experience the robots' diverse capabilities firsthand. The center's manager explained that leveraging China Mobile's computing network and model service platform, it integrates different terminal and architecture systems, enabling smooth interaction and automated continuous operations among heterogeneous robots. This transforms independent robots into a coordinated, system-level operation.

According to Cai Ou, Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the intelligent robot industry has been designated as a separate key industrial chain for focused development this year. The action plan outlines six key tasks: core technology breakthroughs, product portfolio enhancement, enterprise and cluster strengthening, platform empowerment, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordination, and application scenario demonstrations. The plan includes task lists and investment attraction roadmaps to coordinate development efforts.

The Tianjin Robot Industry Technology Alliance, established in late May, fosters deep integration of government, industry, academia, research, and application. It has already held over 10 specialized supply-demand matchmaking events, achieving more than 20 cooperation outcomes. These efforts have helped local products enter the supply chains of leading foreign enterprises, promoted the use of local components, and enhanced regional supply chain collaboration. The alliance has also deepened industrial chain cooperation within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, securing several cross-regional procurement orders.

Regional coordination within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area has accelerated this year. The three regions jointly issued the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Humanoid Robot Industry Chain Collaborative Development Implementation Plan. This plan focuses on key measures such as component integration, targeted cultivation, park collaboration, and platform support, aiming to create a complementary and differentiated industrial development pattern. The "One Chain Per Month" event for the intelligent robot industry chain has been launched in the region, publishing regional supply and demand lists and accurately mapping industrial resources to facilitate component matching and scenario connections. Talents, financial resources, and policies are increasingly converging in the region.

Looking ahead, the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology will strengthen work coordination to accelerate the implementation of the "Six Ones" project. It will collaborate with relevant departments and districts to enhance financial support, strengthen industry-academia-research talent cultivation, explore new business models, increase policy support, foster a favorable environment, and reinforce safety supervision, all to drive the innovative development of the intelligent robot industry in Tianjin.
