Samsung Reportedly Phasing Out QLED and Neo QLED TVs in Favor of Mini LED Lineup

According to a recent report from a South Korean media outlet, Samsung Electronics is significantly reducing the production of its QLED television line, with a possibility that these models could eventually be discontinued entirely. The report indicates that Samsung's QLED TV output has already been cut by 80%, dropping from a projected 10 million units in 2025 to just 2-3 million units expected in 2026.

Last year, Samsung divided its QLED offerings into two distinct categories: standard QLED models utilizing conventional LED backlighting, and its premium Neo QLED series which employs Mini LED technology. However, this year the company has already ceased production of its entry-level premium QLED models, shifting those resources toward Mini LED-based products instead.

The high-end Neo QLED line is also being gradually scaled down, with industry insiders suggesting that production could come to a complete halt as early as 2028. One individual familiar with the situation noted that Samsung's QD TV shipment plans for this year have been dramatically reduced to less than 30% of the original target, while Neo QLED output next year is expected to be only half of this year's levels, with a planned gradual phase-out thereafter.

Looking ahead, Samsung is likely to replace its entire QLED lineup with Mini LED television products, and will progressively transition from Neo QLED to RGB Mini LED technology in the next phase of its display strategy.
