Cainiao's automated sorting solutions were showcased at a recent STO Express customer open day event. The logistics arm of Alibaba has successfully implemented its in-house developed parcel sorting equipment across more than 70 sorting centers within STO Express's nationwide network, solidifying its role as a key partner for core automation technology.

The company's comprehensive automation system now manages the entire process from parcel intake to final destination chute. This integrated system features high-speed cross-belt sorters for small items, narrow-belt sorters for large and irregular parcels, and steerable wheel sorters for precise routing at conveyor junctions. A combined DWS system handles weighing, dimensioning, and barcode scanning in one step. Additionally, single-item separation devices efficiently break down batched packages, while a fully automatic feeding system enables unmanned loading after truck unloading, collectively delivering a substantial boost to sorting efficiency.

Bi Jianghua, Vice President of Cainiao Group and General Manager of its Logistics Robotics Division, stated that domestically, Cainiao is collaborating with STO Express to trial the latest sorting solutions. The focus remains on enhancing efficiency through continuous technological investment and innovation. Concurrently, the company is accelerating its international expansion, with its automated sorting systems already entering markets across the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Europe, including Vietnam, Singapore, Brazil, Spain, and Romania.
