Autodesk's stock experienced a significant 24-hour plunge of 6.47%, with the sharpest declines occurring in post-market trading following the release of its first-quarter financial results.

The digital design software company reported quarterly adjusted earnings of $2.99 per share, beating the consensus estimate of $2.84, while revenue of $1.93 billion also exceeded expectations. Despite these strong results, the stock turned sharply lower as the company's raised full-year guidance for fiscal 2027 only modestly surpassed analyst forecasts.

Investors were disappointed that the forward outlook failed to meet heightened expectations that had been priced into the shares during intraday trading ahead of the report. Concurrently, Autodesk announced a definitive agreement to acquire maintenance and operations software provider MaintainX for approximately $3.6 billion in an all-cash transaction, which some market participants viewed as adding to concerns about capital allocation amid the guidance disappointment.
