Japan's stock market is poised for a decline, driven by renewed investor concerns over the conflict in Iran and its impact on energy prices.

Futures for the Nikkei index on the Singapore Exchange dropped 1.5% to 67,520 points. The US dollar was trading at 162.28 yen, compared to 162.03 yen at the close of the Tokyo market on Tuesday.

Investors are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East following US military strikes against Iran and actions to impede its legal oil sales.

The Nikkei index closed Tuesday's session down 2.1% at 68,256.96 points.
