The analyst emphasized that despite August's 0.1% month-on-month contraction (with July's growth slightly revised upward to 0.3%), September's modest 0.2% expansion helped maintain marginal positive growth for the quarter.

Holt clarified that methodological differences exist between the Bank of Canada's quarterly forecasting model and market-tracking estimates, stating, "The two approaches prioritize distinct technical parameters such as statistical scope and sampling methodology, making it premature to conclude any official forecast deviation." Data revealed that resilient consumer spending (up 0.6% quarterly) and recovering residential investment (rising 1.1%) offset a 1.8% decline in goods exports, indicating the economy continues seeking momentum transition points.
