At the 2026 World Robot Conference forum, held in Beijing from August 19-22, Xiong Youjun, General Manager of Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd., expressed his firm belief that robots are designed to serve humanity rather than replace it.

He emphasized the importance of continuous technological innovation to push boundaries, adding that the center plans to open-source relevant technologies to empower the entire embodied intelligence industry and ultimately benefit people.

Xiong pointed out several major pain points currently facing the sector. First, the issue of redundant construction is prominent, with significant homogeneous investments seen in both data platform development and commercialization models. Second, the cost of product validation remains prohibitively high. Third, technical systems are fragmented across the industry, making compatibility and interoperability between different companies' solutions difficult to achieve.

He stressed that the embodied intelligence industry urgently requires an operating system-level foundational infrastructure. "The pain points of the industry are the directions we must tackle, and we have to rise to the challenge," he stated.

As a national team platform, the center is dedicated to building an open-source, collaborative, and win-win embodied intelligence ecosystem, known as the "Kaiwu" ecosystem. This initiative follows four core principles: first, persistent exploration to continuously break through technological frontiers; second, collaboration over going solo, uniting all leading enterprises in the industry to define the new era of embodied intelligence; third, prioritizing collective industry co-creation over individual dominance; and fourth, avoiding detours by preventing redundant construction and unnecessary reinvention of the wheel.
