SK hynix shares surged 5.01% during the regular trading session, staging a dramatic V-shaped recovery after initially plunging on its second-quarter earnings release. The stock rebounded sharply as investors digested optimistic guidance from management and a bullish analyst call.

The South Korean memory chip giant reported record-breaking Q2 results, with operating profit soaring 557% year-over-year to 60.5 trillion KRW and revenue jumping 257% to 79.3 trillion KRW. Although the figures narrowly missed lofty consensus estimates, management emphasized that AI infrastructure investment remains robust, with major cloud customers continuing to request additional memory chip supply. The company disclosed it has signed long-term agreements with approximately 10 customers and began mass shipments of HBM4 in Q2, with capacity expansion planned for the second half of the year.

Adding to the positive momentum, CLSA maintained its High-Conviction Outperform rating on SK hynix, stating that shares have already priced in concerns over AI capex sustainability, peak memory pricing, and rising competition from Chinese suppliers. The firm expects memory supply to remain tight through 2027 due to advanced-node complexity, lengthy fab ramp-ups, and robust data center demand, with growing AI model complexity continuing to drive demand for high-end memory products.
