JetBlue Airways Simplifies Booking Process, Paving Way for First Premium Cabin Launch

JetBlue Airways announced on Monday that it will introduce a more streamlined and intuitive ticket purchasing process, designed to help customers easily compare different onboard experiences and select fare options based on their preferences. This move prepares the company for the launch of its new domestic first-class product, "BlueFirst," which is planned for later this year.

In the new purchasing flow, travelers will first choose from four "onboard experiences" that define the seating area, in-flight amenities, and services: Main, JetBlue's signature economy experience, offering free high-speed Wi-Fi, seatback entertainment, and complimentary snacks and drinks; EvenMore, similar to premium economy, providing extra legroom, priority security (where available), early boarding, and other additional benefits; BlueFirst, JetBlue's upcoming domestic first-class experience, set to launch later this year on aircraft and routes not equipped with Mint cabins; and Mint, JetBlue's award-winning business class experience, offering lie-flat seats and upgraded dining services on select routes.

After selecting the experience, customers can choose from up to three fare options: Base, the lowest fare, typically without seat selection, with cancellation or change fees and refunds in the form of travel credits; Standard, the most popular option, including seat selection, no change fees, and refunds as travel credits; and Flex, the most flexible option, which, in addition to Standard fare benefits, allows eligible cancellations to be refunded to the original payment method.

JetBlue President Marty St. George stated, "By introducing BlueFirst and the recently upgraded EvenMore experience, we aim to make it easy for customers to find the JetBlue experience they want." He added that customers can complete their booking in just "two clicks": first selecting the onboard experience, and then choosing the fare option based on seat selection and refund preferences. The new purchasing method will be gradually rolled out in the coming days.

Travelers who have previously booked under the old fare system will still enjoy the benefits of their original fare terms.
