Shares of DaVita HealthCare Partners (DVA) tumbled 5.83% in post-market trading on Tuesday, wiping out earlier gains, as the company's decision to maintain its full-year earnings outlook overshadowed a strong second-quarter performance.

The dialysis provider reported adjusted earnings per share of $4.02 for the second quarter, comfortably beating the consensus estimate of $3.88. Revenue rose 5.2% to $3.55 billion, also ahead of the $3.50 billion expected by analysts. However, DaVita reiterated its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $14.10 to $15.20, with the midpoint of $14.65 falling short of the FactSet consensus estimate of $14.88. Given that both Q1 and Q2 results exceeded expectations, the market had widely anticipated a guidance raise, and the unchanged forecast signaled a potential deceleration in earnings momentum during the second half of the year.

Adding to the cautious tone, DaVita flagged a decline in revenue per treatment to $415.87 from $417.59 in the prior period, citing lower enrollment in dialysis treatments as patients dropped out of Obamacare plans following the expiration of pandemic-era subsidies. The combination of a conservative outlook and softening revenue metrics prompted investors to sell the stock aggressively in extended trading.
