Indonesia's financial services regulator has announced plans to establish a new mineral and strategic commodity exchange, named Icomex, with a tentative opening date of September 17. Sarjito, the head of exchange supervision at the regulator, stated during a parliamentary hearing in Jakarta on Tuesday that the exchange is expected to receive its operational license on January 1 of the coming year, with trading activities slated to commence on January 4.
Tin has been designated as the first commodity to be listed on the exchange, a decision based on its established trading infrastructure at the Jakarta Futures Exchange. Sarjito highlighted this existing foundation as a key factor in selecting tin for the initial listing.
