Gulf States Plan to Urge Trump Against Escalating Hostilities With Iran, Sources Say

Several informed individuals have indicated that Gulf Arab nations will press United States President Donald Trump to steer clear of any escalation in hostile actions against Iran during a scheduled meeting on Tuesday. These unnamed sources, who requested anonymity due to the delicate nature of the discussions, stated that officials from the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)—including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar—have been coordinating ahead of the gathering with Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Gulf Arab states are keen to conclude the ongoing conflict, during which their territories and vessels have been struck by thousands of Iranian missiles and drones, leading to economic contraction or notable slowdowns. This is largely driven by persistent disruptions to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for energy supplies. Although the Gulf governments remain divided on how to address Iran and its insistence on controlling shipping rights through this critical waterway, they are hopeful that the meeting with Trump will yield progress toward ending the war initiated by the United States and Israel in late February.
