31 Apps and SDKs Notified for Violations Including Unauthorized Personal Data Collection and Unwanted Redirects

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued a notification today. According to the "Announcement on Launching the 2026 Series of Special Actions for Personal Information Protection" jointly released by the Cyberspace Administration of China, MIIT, and the Ministry of Public Security, and in accordance with laws and regulations such as the "Personal Information Protection Law," the "Cybersecurity Law," the "Telecommunications Regulations," and the "Provisions on the Protection of Personal Information of Telecommunications and Internet Users," MIIT has initiated governance regarding issues such as the illegal collection and use of personal information by apps and SDKs. Recently, following spot checks conducted by third-party testing agencies organized by the authority, 31 apps and SDKs were found to have infringed upon user rights and interests, and are now publicly notified.

The aforementioned apps and SDKs are required to carry out rectifications in accordance with relevant regulations. For those that fail to implement the required rectifications adequately, MIIT will initiate relevant disposal measures according to the law and regulations.
