Significant pre-market gains were observed among drone-related stocks on Thursday following reports that the former Trump administration is considering funding agreements with several drone companies. The aim is to expand domestic production and reduce costs for this increasingly critical defense technology. Sources indicate that potential recipients identified by the Pentagon include Performance Drone Works, which holds an Army contract for reconnaissance drones; Unusual Machines Inc (UMAC.US), a drone components supplier backed by Donald Trump Jr.; and the startup Neros Technologies, which is supported by Sequoia Capital and focuses on developing small first-person-view (FPV) drones. These potential agreements reportedly follow months of negotiations between the Pentagon and several private drone companies. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation's Office of Strategic Capital, a lending agency established during the Biden administration to support companies vital to national security supply chains, was also involved in the talks. The news spurred pre-market gains across the drone and defense sectors. Unusual Machines Inc (UMAC.US) surged 33%, Red Cat Holdings (RCAT.US) rose 16%, AgEagle Aerial Systems (UAVS.US) increased 15%, while AeroVironment (AVAV.US), Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS.US), and ZenaTech (ZENA.US) all gained over 10%. Ondas Holdings (ONDS.US) advanced 9%, and AIRO Group (AIRO.US) climbed 5%.
