Long-Term Selling Pressure Eases, Altering the Pace of the Crypto Market

On August 11, the behavioral shift of long-term addresses provides a new perspective for analyzing digital asset supply. On-chain data shows that the pace of selling by Bitcoin long-term holders has slowed down, and this adjustment in on-chain supply offers a fresh clue for market observation. With the deceleration of selling, the potential selling pressure may marginally ease, but this is not the same as new buying demand; prices still require real transaction volume to drive them.

The holding period of an address can reflect the sentiment of some participants, but an improvement in holder behavior does not equate to a trend confirmation. Ultimately, assessments must combine exchange traffic and spot transaction volumes. Whether assets remain in new wallets or flow to exchanges carries different implications. Only when exchange net flows, spot volumes, and long-term holdings all improve together can the supply structure be considered a reliable shift.

On-chain analysis often confuses correlation with causation. When holders stop selling, it could be due to lower prices, waiting for information, or adjustments in custody arrangements, and it does not automatically signal an intention to accumulate. Similarly, large transfers may simply be internal migrations. Cross-referencing address types and final destinations can reduce the bias introduced by any single indicator.

Going forward, the focus should be on whether the easing of supply can translate into market resilience. By observing exchange traffic and support at key price levels, if sell orders decrease during pullbacks and spot volumes expand during rallies, the foundation for a recovery will gradually strengthen. However, if capital continues to flow out, the impact of on-chain improvements may be limited.
