American Eagle Outfitters' stock fell 5.21% in the after-hours session following the release of its fourth-quarter earnings results that showed a significant miss on earnings per share despite a revenue beat.

The apparel retailer reported quarterly earnings of $0.50 per share, which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $0.71 by 29.18%. This represents a 7.41% decrease compared to earnings of $0.54 per share from the same period last year. While the company's quarterly sales of $1.761 billion beat estimates of $1.743 billion, investors focused on the earnings shortfall.

Adding to concerns, the company expects tariff impacts of $60 million in the first half of 2026 and acknowledged business disruptions in the Middle East with stores still closed in Israel. Management also noted that their annual forecast does not include potential developments related to recent Supreme Court decisions on tariffs, creating additional uncertainty for investors.
