The U.S. July CPI data came in moderate, reducing expectations for a September interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve, which weighed on the U.S. dollar index. Meanwhile, negotiations between the U.S. and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz stalled, with both sides introducing new conditions, keeping geopolitical uncertainty elevated and suppressing risk appetite. Against this backdrop, base metals on the London Metal Exchange closed mixed on August 13.
