September 5, U.S. stocks closed lower amid a quiet news backdrop. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.51%, the S&P 500 slipped 0.38% and the Nasdaq Composite eased 0.29% as investors digested a light data calendar and awaited fresh catalysts.

Micron Technology leads semiconductor rebound while Tesla stumbles. Micron Technology climbed 6.10% on optimism around memory-chip pricing, SanDisk surged 11.90% and leveraged ETF SOXL jumped 9.87%. Intel added 4.51%, AMD rose 4.69% and Marvell Technology gained 7.05%. In contrast, Tesla fell 5.92% after a bearish delivery-growth update, Lululemon sank 17.38% on weak guidance and Direxion’s TSLA-linked fund TSLL dropped 11.85%.

Additional movers were mixed across themes. Silicon Motion Technology advanced 8.70%, Bloom Energy rallied 7.35% and SK hynix added 8.14%. Direxion’s semiconductor bear fund SOXS fell 10.19%, Palantir slid 4.49% and Apple edged down 2.51%.
