Following a severe winter storm that hit the New York area, both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq have confirmed that trading will proceed as usual on Monday.

Although the blizzard has caused travel disruptions and business interruptions along the U.S. East Coast, the two largest stock exchange operators in the United States do not anticipate any impact on Monday's market opening. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared a state of emergency.

In an emailed statement, Nasdaq said: "Our markets and systems remain unaffected. We expect to operate normally." The New York Stock Exchange, which is part of Intercontinental Exchange, also stated that it will maintain normal operations.
