Automaker Stellantis NV announced on Tuesday a global recall of more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and pickup trucks due to a potential fire risk, advising owners to park their vehicles away from structures and other cars until repairs are made.

The recall covers Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from the 2021 through 2025 model years. The issue stems from an electrical connection problem within the wiring for the electric-hydraulic power steering pump. In rare instances, this fault can cause overheating of combustible materials, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.

Stellantis NV stated that the recall affects approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 vehicles in other global markets.

The company indicated that the recall procedure will involve an inspection and, if necessary, a repair or replacement of the wiring harness or the electric-hydraulic power steering pump itself.

Stellantis NV is working to expedite the availability of the remedy and expects to complete the recall repairs by July at the latest.

The automaker reported it is aware of one potential injury report related to this condition but has not received any reports of crashes or fatalities.
