At the market open on September 4th, the Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.34% to 3,955.55 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.74% to 13,725.65 points. The ChiNext Board advanced 0.97% to 3,344.62 points, and the STAR 50 Index gained 1.04% to 1,627.95 points. By 9:33 AM, 4,255 stocks on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges were trading higher, 1,004 were lower, and 297 were flat. Leading sectors included components, digital media, non-metallic materials, real estate services, advertising and marketing, and communication equipment, while agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, retail trade, and coal were among the decliners.

All major A-share indices opened higher today, with the STAR 50 Index leading the charge, up more than 1%, and the ChiNext Board climbing nearly 1%. The market showed a broad advance, with advancing stocks accounting for roughly 76% of all listings. Twelve stocks hit their daily upside limit while nine fell to the downside limit, indicating a noticeable improvement in market sentiment compared with the previous session. In terms of sectors, technology-related areas such as components, digital media, communication equipment, and software development led the gains, while real estate services, advertising and marketing, and non-metallic materials were also active. Among the Shenwan primary industries, nearly all rose, with only agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, retail trade, and coal posting slight declines.

Overnight, a dovish signal from a Federal Reserve official bolstered global risk appetite. Fed Governor Christopher Waller indicated on September 3rd that if inflation continues to decline, he would support holding interest rates steady in September. Market expectations for a rate hike in September cooled significantly, with CME FedWatch showing the probability of a September hike falling from roughly 63% the previous day to around 50%. U.S. equities rallied broadly, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 1.18% to 53,686.11 points, the Nasdaq adding 1.40%, and the S&P 500 rising 1.06%. COMEX gold futures climbed 2.39%.

Domestically, the People's Bank of China (PBOC) Governor Pan Gongsheng reiterated at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting that the central bank will continue to implement a moderately loose monetary policy to create conditions for stable economic growth. In addition, ten government departments, led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for Promoting the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises," proposing the establishment of a second phase of the National SME Development Fund and the high-quality construction of a "technology board" in the bond market to support corporate bond financing for SMEs.

News flow from the semiconductor supply chain was dense. Jcet Group Co., Ltd. (SH: 600584) announced plans to raise up to 6.5 billion yuan through a private placement, with proceeds earmarked for projects including the expansion of a high-end advanced packaging platform for high-performance computing. Meanwhile, Jingzhida signed a 1.576 billion yuan procurement agreement for semiconductor testing equipment with an undisclosed client. Separately, executives at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) noted that nearly 20 wafer fabs are under construction globally, and demand for chip-making tools has almost doubled since late last year.

Today's broad opening gains across A-shares, with the Shanghai Composite up 0.34%, the ChiNext up 0.97%, and the STAR 50 up over 1%, along with more than 4,200 advancing stocks (over 70% of all listings), point to a clear rebound in risk appetite. The main catalyst came from overnight dovish comments by Fed Governor Waller, which dampened bets on a September rate hike. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield retreated after briefly testing above 4.8% in intraday trading, while U.S. stocks surged and COMEX gold futures jumped 2.39%, driving a rally in precious metals and growth-oriented tech names. On the domestic front, PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng reiterated a moderately loose monetary stance, and the ten-department SME plan, including the establishment of a second-phase national SME development fund, tilted policy signals toward small-cap and hard-tech sectors. Institutional consensus is leaning toward high-earnings-visibility sectors such as communication equipment, semiconductors, and PCB, while also keeping a foothold in safe-haven assets like precious metals. In the near term, the key variable is whether the index can attract sufficient volume to sustain the higher opening. Tonight, the U.S. August non-farm payrolls report is due, followed by the August CPI on September 11th, both of which are critical data points ahead of the Fed's September 15-16 meeting and could rattle global risk sentiment. The pattern of structural opportunities outweighing index-level gains is likely to persist in A-shares.
